Safe payments
- Never pay by bank transfer to someone you don't know and trust — use Fetchfree's secure checkout where available.
- Never share your card details, PIN or one-time codes with another user.
- Be wary of sellers pushing for payment via gift cards or cryptocurrency.
- If a deal looks too good to be true, it probably is.
Viewing items in person
- Always meet in a safe, public, well-lit place — ideally during daylight hours.
- Take someone with you and let a friend or family member know where you're going.
- Inspect the item thoroughly before handing over any money.
- Trust your instincts — if something feels off, walk away.
Spotting scams
- Be cautious of sellers who refuse to meet or insist on communicating only off-platform.
- Watch for poor spelling and copy-paste messages sent to many buyers.
- Never pay a deposit before you've seen the item in person.
- Report any suspicious behaviour using the Report button on every listing.
Protecting your account
- Use a strong, unique password and enable two-factor authentication if available.
- Fetchfree will never ask for your password by email or message.
- Keep your conversations on Fetchfree so we can help if something goes wrong.
- Review your saved listings and messages regularly for anything you don't recognise.
Selling safely
- Provide honest, accurate descriptions and clear photos of what you're selling.
- Meet buyers in a public place and confirm payment before handing over goods.
- Be cautious of overpayments — a buyer offering more than your asking price is a red flag.
- Remove your advert once it's sold to avoid wasted enquiries.
